Teresa A. Sullivan, “Free Speech After Charlottesville”

Friday, February 16, 2018, 12:00 pm, Rowe Auditorium, Law Building

The College of Law will present the David C. Baum Lecture on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights, given  by Teresa A. Sullivan, President of the University of Virginia. She will discuss how the violent clashes of white supremacists and counter-protesters at UVA have shaped the debate about free speech, led to discussions about the proper dividing line between free speech and hate speech, and changed the way that universities prepare for public assemblies that can lead to violent clashes between opposing groups. More information is available here.
