Passing for Model Minority with erin Khuê Ninh (UCSB)

The second event of the “In Plain Sight: Reckoning with Anti-Asian Racism” series wherein erin Khuê Ninh (Department of Asian American Studies, UCSB) talks about the idea of the model minority and racial identity in discussion with her recent book, Passing for Perfect: College Impostors & Other Model Minorities. Work by sociologists Jennifer Lee and Min Zhou will also be addressed as well why Asian American studies deny the existence of the model minority.
